The Mode Sonnet is the centerpiece of my workspace, and I built it for a crispy, clacky sound. I also programmed it to swap between Mac and Windows layouts with a key combo, which makes hybrid life way smoother.

“for the last 5 years I've had the entire Apple ecosystem at my fingertips and for the 5 years before that I didn't touch anything designed by temp cook today I think I finally made peace with both sides and this setup is the Premium All-In-One [Music] hybrid before we start let's cover what's supporting everything the desk is a 2 m warut sit stand desk from Desy it allows you to save four presets has a safety mechanism and allows you to install a drawer and a built-in cable management system on the left side I have my trusty M1 Max MacBook Pro from 2020 fitted with dbrands icon skin on the right hand side is a new custombuilt pc I'm not expert in PC specs but the main thing is that it's rocking an RTX 480 and this beautiful outer casing is the fractal North and with that out of the way we can get into something more interesting at the heart of this hybrid setup with a 32in IPS black 4K display 2001 contrast ratio 400 in brightness and a built-in KVM switch the Ben Q PD 3225 U monitor from my perspective BenQ created this display as a more affordable alternative to the pro display xdr with a built-in mbook mode that perfectly replicates the color and contrast of the MacBook Pro BenQ includes a control Puck that allows easy adjustments to the monitor with three programmable buttons for Quick Settings but the best feature of all is the KVM switch one click and all your peripherals move over in an instant Thunderbolt for the mac and USB plus display port for the PC this monitor has completely changed the way I use this space from a simple docking station for productivity to streamlined work and Leisure combo I've also upgraded the monitor light the banku screen bar Halo this is the first time I've upgraded since using the cheaper xiaomi light bar so for anyone curious about the difference between these similar products at very different price points here it is the screen bar Halo has a base that can support overly thick monitors or even curved with no problem unlike the xiaomi which I had to break apart and put back together to fit on my old Ultra one it has a light on the front and the back and a fancy control knob that allows you to set the temperature brightness light mode auto mode and even a saved favorite preset I've noticed that the light coverage with the Halo is a lot wider than the xiaomi version although it's slightly dimmer at its maximum brightness one thing I wish it had was the ability to change the color temperature of the front and back independently and just like anything it's up to you to decide whether it's worth it or [Music] not to keep everything organized I have the belolo setup cockpit in solid Walnut you'll notice that I'm a basic Walnut Glazer like every other YouTuber but sometimes the popular option is the right one nothing can beat the look and feel of real Walnut the setup cockpit allows you to customize the rise to your needs with modular components that screw onto the Matrix at the [Music] bottom for this setup I've installed the two large metal trays for level separation and Below those iconic Walnut trays both small and large for further organization the warn up finish is a pleasure to look at every time I sit down and everything I need is just an arms length away you also notice I have some other B accessories such as the laptop stand headphone stand mag safe stand and all new desk pad I've always preferred the look and feel of wool desk pads and this large size of 90x 45 cm gives me just the right sized primary work area there's some rubber padding on the bottom to prevent slipping and no branding on the top to keep a clean and minimal aesthetic another bonus is that since this little guy loves to sleep on it the felt texture hides fur very well so I don't have to clean it every couple of minutes and now for the centerpiece of my [Music] workspace everything you need to build the keyboard is provided in this Sleek carrying case and if you're unfamiliar with the process they have a full build guide on YouTube from testing the PCB to the final assembly for this build I wanted a crispy and clacky sound profile so I used the hmx Shin High switches which are super smooth out of the box even without Loop a copper weight and carbon fiber plate once everything is finished you'll find yourself with your very own mode sonnet the Sonet is a 75% keyboard and is configurable with the VR software I've programmed mine to switch from Mac to Windows layout with a simple key combination further improving the efficiency of the hybrid setup and of course here's what it sounds like you can use modes online configurator to customize every aspect of the board and if you're curious I've left my configuration in the descript destion below for you to check out unlike the one for all keyboard I have a separate Mouse for mac and windows my mouse of choice for Mac is still the MX Master 3s when it comes to productivity and work nothing beats the premium feel and I can't live without the gesture button on the side which retains the functionality of trackpad gestures however when it comes to gaming I've got something new the Kyron M6 this is a much cheaper Mouse but it's much lighter and more responsive it still has the side buttons and an Infinity scroll option the shape also reminds me of the MX master so it's a pretty seamless switch from one to the other for all my audio needs including the narration of this video I'm using the fifine k68 mic a dynamic microphone that's a relatively affordable compared to Alternatives this is attached to the Elgato wave mic arm but unfortunately the mic and arm aren't compatible and I had to swap out the base for my old mic to attach it as always my speakers are the edifier m4s and everything is connected to the super old Scarlet solo but if I need to be quiet my headphones of choice is the airpods max definitely not the best value for money but the audio quality is great and the noise cancelling is top of the line the ambient lighting hasn't changed the IKEA lamp with a Phillips smart bulb and two Phillips Hue bars one on the back of my monitor and one behind the PC I generally keep the ambient light behind things so that the light bounces off a wall to create a soft glow all the lights are connected to the home app and group together so that it can be controlled with Apple's built-in widget outside of the desk itself I've installed Walnut slap panels these are Prem panels from Bunnings but I'm sure you can find something similar at a local hardware store if you're not in Australia on the right hand side I've hung up my Les pole for ease of access and a little bit of personalization the chair I'm using is the same one from 4 years ago which I got because it looks nice and it's relatively comfortable many people have commented that I should invest in a more ergonomic chair but until then this forces me to stand up every now and then because I can't sit on this all day in the same line of Health I have one last thing to show [Music] you this is a portable treadmill the walking pad C2 getting in your steps every day is very important and I have to admit that I don't get enough especially on the days where I'm working from home for this little thing helps a lot it comes with a little remote to turn it on and off and control the speed it's a good addition to any situation where you're forced to sit for a long period of time if you're desperate to get your steps in and have some extra cash then this is for you [Music]”
