Bethany Hart and her husband always dreamed of a big family. In 2016, during her second trimester, Bethany was diagnosed with a rare form of cervical cancer and turned to gynecologic oncologist Ronald Potkul, MD, and radiation oncologist William Small, MD, for help. Bethany underwent surgery and an aggressive course of radiation and chemotherapy. The treatment saved her life, but tragically, their daughter Hallie did not survive. Amid grief and gratitude, they founded the Hallie Strong Foundation to offer other cancer patients the compassion and support she found at Loyola Medicine.
