I pulled ingredients straight from our pantry—mostly canned and preserved food from last year’s harvest—and cooked up a big batch of chili, beef stew, pulled pork, homemade yogurt, bread, and even got a new batch of kombucha going. It wasn’t fancy, but it was practical, nourishing, and it gave us a whole week of meals with very little effort.
