Many people have been asking me when I plan to switch from the Guardian 4 sensor. In this video, I explain why I’m NOT switching to the Instinct CGM (at least for now). After reading the manual and seeing discussions from other insulin pump users in online support groups, I found a few things that made me pause: sensor accuracy, calibration, and the first 12 hours of sensor wear. Topics covered in this video: • The new CGM options available for the MiniMed 780G system • Differences between Instinct CGM and Guardian 4 • Why calibration matters to me • Accuracy concerns some users are reporting • A surprising warning in the Instinct sensor manual • Vitamin C interference with CGM readings • Tradeoffs between newer smaller sensors and reliability To be clear, this does not mean the Instinct CGM won’t work well for some people. Everyone’s body responds differently to diabetes technology. For me personally, the Guardian 4 sensor has been extremely accurate, especially after calibration. Before switching to a new CGM, I always recommend reading the sensor manual carefully so you understand the limitations, medication interactions, and recommended usage guidelines. If you are using the MiniMed 780G, I’d love to hear your experience. Have you tried: • the Instinct CGM • the Simplera Sync sensor • the Guardian 4 sensor Let me know in the comments — what has been the most accurate CGM for you? 👍 If this video helped you, please like and subscribe for more videos about insulin pumps, CGMs, and living with diabetes.
