About This Video

People ask me all the time, “Is traveling the world for poker as glamorous as it looks?” So in this vlog I show you the real version—not just the highlight reel. Bobby (#MoreBob) and I road-trip through Northern California, drive through the redwoods (my happy place), and stop at Newport Ranch to check it out as a possible wedding venue for my stepdaughter. It’s the kind of trip that looks fancy on Instagram, but it’s also just a lot of driving, weird sleep, and trying to keep your energy right. Then we do the “glamorous” part: a Michelin-star meal at Harbor House Inn where I’m worried about the small portions… and then I’m absolutely stuffed. The next day we head to Graton Casino for a $400 RunGood tournament (25K starting, 30-minute levels). I talk about the emotional swings that come with tournament poker on the road, and why sometimes it’s honestly more fun to travel than it is to play. Strategy-wise, I break down a hand versus a passive “calling station” type player: why I like going bigger preflop out of position, why c-betting is basically mandatory on draw-heavy boards, and why I chose an overbet shove turn to charge draws and put maximum pressure on someone who doesn’t like folding. That’s the truth of poker travel: amazing places, great people… and you still have to make good decisions when you’re tired.
