I NEVER thought I'd see this

The aurora (northern lights) reached as far south as Texas last night—maybe calling them 'northern lights' is a bit of a stretch. In the midst of a G5-level solar storm, where hundreds of gigajoules of magnetic energy was bombarding our atmosphere, people around the world witnessed a beautiful display of light and color. I was lucky enough to have clear skies in St. Louis, MO, so here's a video with some of the footage I took. There's a chance the aurora will reach down into the US again tonight (May 11, 2024), so don't miss it! If it's after that day, or you're too far south to see it (or too far north... some people saw it in Australia!), then hopefully my video will give you some idea what it was like!
