IGN Was Right - MOUSE: P.I. for Hire Review

IGN called it an amusing boomer shooter with killer 1930s cartoon aesthetics but a story that doesn't quite match the gunplay. After diving in myself, I have to agree—here's why their 6/10 take was spot on.MOUSE: P.I. For Hire throws you into the shoes of Jack Pepper (voiced by Troy Baker), a hard-boiled mouse private eye in the neon-soaked, black-and-white world of Mouseburg. Hand-drawn rubber hose animation meets explosive first-person shooting, big band jazz, cartoon weapons, power-ups, and a noir detective tale full of corruption, kidnapping, and murder. It looks and feels incredible… but does the story hold up when the bullets start flying? In this full review I break down the stunning visuals, satisfying combat, memorable soundtrack, and where the narrative falls short. If you love retro-inspired FPS games with personality (think classic cartoons meets hard-boiled detective vibes), this one is worth a look—but it’s not perfect.
