Samson Dauda, affectionately known as “The Nigerian Lion,” is a Nigerian-British professional bodybuilder celebrated for his remarkable ascent in the IFBB Pro League. Born on March 11, 1986, in Lagos, Nigeria, Dauda relocated to the United Kingdom during his teenage years, initially pursuing rugby. His transition to bodybuilding was inspired by encouragement from his rugby teammates and a local gym owner, leading him to compete in his first bodybuilding contest in April 2014. ​ Dauda earned his IFBB Pro card in 2017 after clinching the overall title at the IFBB Amateur Diamond Cup in Rome. He made his professional debut in 2018 at the EVLS Prague Showdown, securing a fifth-place finish. His first professional victory came in 2021 at the EVLS Prague Pro, which qualified him for the 2022 Mr. Olympia, where he placed sixth. In 2023, he won the Arnold Classic USA and improved his Mr. Olympia standing to third place. His crowning achievement came in 2024 when he won the Mr. Olympia title, becoming the first bodybuilder of Nigerian descent to do so.
