Waveshare has just released 3 new RP2040 boards! The RP2040-Zero, the RP2040-Plus and the RP2040-LCD-0.96. The RP2040-Zero measures in at 18 by 23.5mm which is slightly larger than the Pimoroni Tiny 2040 which is it’s nearest competitors. It also has 2MB of flash storage and is powered by the RP2040 chip from the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The RP2040-Plus has LiPo charging functionality and 4MB of onboard flash. The RP2040-LCD-0.96 has a built-in LCD display with a 160x80 resolution and RGB capability. It also retains the LiPo functionality of the RP2040-Plus. This video gives you a first look and review of these three new RP2040 boards from Waveshare Electronics. The RP2040 chip supports 4 12-bit ADC channels (4 are user inputs and one measures internal temperature), two UARTs, two SPI and I2C controllers. It also has 8 PIO state machines, USB 1.1 host and device support and 16 PWM channels. Programming any of these Waveshare RP2040 boards is exactly the same as programming the Pico. It can be programmed using the Raspberry Pi RP2040 SDK. Just press the boot select button whilst plugging the USB-C cable in and drag and drop the UF2 file onto the Pimoroni Pico LiPo. It will then reboot and run your program! It can also be programmed in MicroPython and CircuitPython.
