Secure Control Layers for Autonomous Energy Systems: SCADA/OT in a Dual-Use Context

As energy systems become increasingly autonomous and distributed, the control layer becomes the critical point of both resilience and vulnerability. This session explores how SCADA and OT security enable reliable operation of microgrids, BESS, and hybrid energy systems in civilian environments. Drawing from real-world implementations in critical infrastructure, we will highlight how secure control architectures ensure continuity and mitigate cyber-physical risks — and discuss their growing relevance and applicability in dual-use and defence contexts.
