In this live hangout, I introduce you to my “puppy” Pennywise—my Surinam red tail boa constrictor and, straight up, my favorite snake I own. She’s fresh out of shed (like, the saturation is insane), super crisp, and ridiculously chill. I talk through the stuff people always ask first—"does she bite?" “is she venomous?”—and I show her teeth on camera to explain the difference between venomous fangs and the rows of teeth constrictors use to grab and latch before they constrict. We also get into real keeper talk: how I calm defensive boas (the t-shirt trick, consistency, and tap training), why male ball pythons “randomly” stop eating (it’s breeding-season fasting, not them being picky), and my stance on heat—belly heat is absolutely useful as a secondary source when it’s controlled properly with a thermostat (I prefer heat tape over heat pads). And yes… Pennywise drops an absolutely massive poop mid-stream all over me, which is gross, but it’s also real life reptile keeping. This is the stuff pet stores don’t warn you about—welfare-first means you learn it all, including cleanup.
