About This Video

In this live Ball Python & Snake Q&A, I’m hanging out with Snowy (my cinnamon lesser firefly ball python) and just running through real keeper questions the way I do it—welfare-first and without the pet-store myths. We talk morphs (including my least favorites like champagne, and why I’m not here for breeding problem genes), what “food strike” actually means (I don’t use that term), and how to handle and build trust with a new snake. I also get into sheds—what it looks like when they start getting darker, how long after they go “blue” it usually takes (about 7–10 days), and why so many snakes can sync up. We also hit husbandry and gear: heat mats aren’t a requirement, but they do like belly heat—personally I’d rather run heat tape and I’m always going to say “use a thermostat.” I explain why I use grow tents for most of my snakes (humidity and heat retention is crazy good), and I point people to my equipment list so they can grab the exact sizes. Plus, we get some rapid-fire education: snakes hear low frequencies (think bass vibrations), they’re not “evil,” and if you start handling, start slow and build consistency.
