Today we look at 5 Low Budget Techniques and ideas for cinematic lighting My Cinematic VFX Collection https://filmfx.store Getting cinematic lighting can be hard and even harder when you are on a likited budget. With these 5 tricks and techniques you can get some lighting ideas to improve your cinematography no matter what tools you have available. Here's a quick breakdown of this video's topics: 1 - using what your location is giving you. Taking advantage of natural light and practicals. 2 - Bouncing light from a wall of ceiling to make the source bigger and more diffused 3 - Using a cut can in a mullet shape to cut down spill from a practical in your scene or even to lower the exposure of a light bulb. 4 - getting less powerful lights closer to still get the detail you want on a subject and then deleting them in post by using a clean plate of that same locked down shot without the lights. 5 - Using shadows to break up a blank and bland wall. This can be done on set with what is called a cookie cutter, simply by using flat cardboard surface with cut outs or even a branch or other elements to place in front of your spotlight of choice to cast different shadows.
