3 Key VFX Tricks that can save your footage and improve your scene. Get my Cinematic VFX Collection https://filmfx.store These are my 3 Fix it in post tips that I wanted to pass along to you. It’s always better to not have to resort to fixing things later but it does happen. And anyone that condemns fixing things in post altogether is omitting the reality of filmmaking which when done right means being open to taking risks and making mistakes. Here's a quick breakdown of this video's topics: 1 Removing dirt from your lens in After Effects https://youtu.be/Oi6fME4muro This is done with the content aware tool and by using simple masks to surround and select the areas of the frame that have any lens dirt. 2 Using AI to remove compression and noise https://youtu.be/hfU2o4QbOxw By using the latest tools in AI we can clean up footage and restore detail in it that would've been impossible to do not too long ago. 3 Removing unwanted elements from your scene in After Effects https://youtu.be/tSHpuUyuK74 This can be done multiple ways depending on the complexity of the shot. Your first step is to track it. This can be in 2D as in this case or a full 3D camera track for more complex moving shots. Then a layer is created to cover up the unwanted element. This can be done with the content aware fill tool or even as simply as using a solid or image to match the area being covered up. Clone stamping either in Photoshop or directly in After Effects can be useful steps for more challenging areas to cover. 4 Matching the lighting with rotoscoping and color adjustments https://youtu.be/1P3COOWXohY (Older Video but steps apply) This can be doing a day for night look or even subtle touches to match the lighting of two different setups lacking the consistency of the same time of day. This can become apparent when losing light at sunset for example and one side of the coverage of a dialogue is slightly different than the other side which may have been shot directly after. Even when compensating with exposure there are still some avoidable and unavoidable differences that can be cheated to look more consistent and correct to the eye.
