THE $15 BULB TRAP: The Hidden Downside of Vespa Sprint Turn Signals as Running Lights

Vespa Sprint / Primavera owners in North America get a set of 'dead lights' where the factory turn signals are since we get Pod turn signals. ScooterWest sells a kit to convert them into either additional brake lights or running lights. I used the kit to convert them into running lights. Since making that conversion I decided to look up the factory bulbs. They have an estimated (up to) 1000 hour lifespan. In the 8 months I've owned my Sprint I have over 2200 hours of use. That means I would have replaced each bulb 2 times. At roughly $15 per bulb that is more than I think most people would expect....AND, that's assuming 1000 hours out of each bulb. They were designed to flash as turn signals - not to run constantly, so I can only assume that will further decrease their lifespan. It is something to note and consider before making the same conversion. What do you think?
