1x cranksets dominate the MTB landscape. In the big box/budget bike world, we struggled for years to get away from the old stamped and riveted 3x7 setups and into good wide-range 1x. It has been great - but recently YT has been suggesting older videos in viewer feeds - older videos claiming 3x is a better option for mountain bikes. On some higher cost bikes with better components that may be valid, but I have many problem with that suggestion when it comes to budget mountain bikes....and this video explains why.
