EASY Beginner Butterflies in Watercolor | 5 Simple Loose Steps

I begin by shaping the wings with clean water first, leaving space for the butterfly body before dropping in vibrant color and letting the watercolor naturally move across the paper. Whoops, guess they have 6 legs, my bad! In this tutorial, we’ll play with: • soft wet-into-wet watercolor techniques • easy butterfly shapes • layering color without overmixing • adding simple finishing details and metallic sparkle • creating handmade watercolor cards Every butterfly turns out a little different depending on the water, color, and movement of the paint — and that’s part of the fun.
