14 gauge Marine wire

When I’m rewiring anything on a boat, I stick with marine-grade wire because it holds up better in a wet environment. For these lights I went heavier gauge since I’m pigtailing a bunch of runs around the boat and I don’t want voltage drop or sketchy connections.

Pros

  • +Marine-grade insulation made for wet environments
  • +Good choice for longer runs and pigtailing multiple lights
  • +Helps keep wiring more reliable long-term

Cons

  • -More expensive than basic automotive wire
  • -Thicker wire can be a little harder to fish through tight spots
