About This Video

What’s going on everyone—it’s Justin here, and I spent $750 on a Bluetooth speaker that’s also basically an art piece: the Lexon Design x Jeff Koons Balloon Dog Speaker. I used to make a lot more videos at the intersection of tech, design, and fashion, so when I saw this collab I had to pick it up and see what it really is. Is it actually a good speaker, or are you mostly paying for the Jeff Koons Balloon Dog vibe and the limited-release factor? I unbox it, go over what you get (including a certificate of authenticity and a surprisingly nice braided USB-C cable), and then break down the design and engineering. It’s smaller than you’d think, weighs about 2.44 lb, and uses an optical-grade polycarbonate that feels more premium and durable than normal plastic. Inside, it’s packed with six active drivers and four passive radiators, plus sound ports and perforations all around the body. Controls are quirky in a fun way—volume knob up front, touch controls on top (yes, you literally tap the dog to skip tracks). It runs Bluetooth 5.3, supports pairing two units with TWS, and claims 10 hours of battery life. At the end of the day, whether it’s “worth it” comes down to how you value art versus tech—and whether you’re okay with the reality that tech can become obsolete, even if the sculpture still looks incredible on a shelf.
