About This Video

What’s going on everyone—Justin here. In this video I’m unboxing and setting up what I’d call a pretty serious Apple “ProApp” workflow refresh: the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max and the long-awaited Studio Display XDR. I walk through why these two products make sense to cover together, because for a lot of professionals and creators, you’re not just upgrading a laptop—you’re transforming your entire desk setup and daily workflow in one shot. On the MacBook side, I’m unboxing my spec’d-out 14-inch M5 Max model with 128GB of unified memory, 4TB of storage, in silver with the nano-texture option (which I personally prefer on the MacBook). I also break down how Apple’s lineup feels more clearly divided this year between M5 vs M5 Pro vs M5 Max, and why the new architecture matters beyond just core counts—especially for CPU/GPU-heavy work like editing, rendering, and native AI/LLM tasks. Then I unbox the new 27-inch Studio Display XDR—mini-LED with 234 local dimming zones, 1,000 nits SDR and 2,000 nits peak HDR, 120Hz with adaptive sync, Thunderbolt 5 (with daisy chaining), plus upgraded camera, speakers, and mics. I’ve been a Pro Display XDR fan since 2019, so even though I’m a bit sad there isn’t a 32-inch option, this update is exactly the kind of display refresh I’ve been waiting for.
