One of the most difficult issues we face in concert snare drum playing concerns the transition between quick single-strokes & buzz/open rolls. With buzz and open (double stroke) rolls being approached primarily from the arm, and quick singles from wrist/fingers, working out the transition between the two takes careful thought and consideration. While some might even label these types of transitions as additional stroke types, I prefer to think of them as "modifications". In contrast to a normal rebound stroke, the wrist rebounds from the arm when moving from singles to buzz. I decided to make my first of 7 instructional videos in a series I'm labeling, "Work Smarter, Not Harder." pdf downloads accompanying this video series can be found here: https://www.justinballpercussion.com/work-smarter-not-harder Other Buzz-related Videos: American Applications of the Scottish Rudimental Style: https://youtu.be/pBIFSNgc1fk Buzz Roll Applications (Articulation: Tied vs Untied Rolls + Scottish/French-American Influence): https://youtu.be/lQi9QHV-FTU American Applications of the Scottish Rudimental Style: https://youtu.be/pBIFSNgc1fk Website: www.justinballpercussion.com COVID-19 Pad Series here: www.justinballpercussion.com/covid-19-video-series
