It’s called hybrid creep — which is when companies slowly, quietly, very politely push you back into the office without ever saying it out loud. No mandate. No announcement. Just vibes, fear, and “interesting promotion patterns.” Suddenly: • Promotions go to the people who show up the most • Cameras, badge swipes, and phone tracking become “culture” • Managers start saying things like “we notice who’s committed” • Everyone is mysteriously in the office on Fridays again They don’t call it layoffs. They don’t call it RTO. They call it “encouragement.” This isn’t leadership. It’s psychological warfare with a Keurig. If your company needs to physically see you to believe you’re working, that’s not performance management — that’s insecurity with a corner office. So yeah: Is your boss a hybrid creep?
