For Episode 37 of Living Noire, we visited Ruth’s Chris Steak House — a classic steakhouse we’ve returned to many times over the years. This visit reinforced why it remains a staple for us, while also highlighting a few details that continue to shape the overall experience. Here’s what we tried during this visit: • Sunset Serenade zero-proof mocktail • Sweet tea • Barbecued shrimp • Ruth’s Chop Salad • Stuffed chicken breast • Broccoli gratin • Sweet potato casserole • Crème brûlée • Warm apple crumb tart • Coffee The stuffed chicken breast continues to stand out as one of our go-to dishes — rich, well-seasoned, and consistently executed with a creamy, savory center. The barbecued shrimp remains a reliable favorite, with a buttery, flavorful sauce and well-cooked shrimp that keeps us coming back. The sweet potato casserole is easily one of the highlights of the menu — rich, sweet, and balanced with a perfectly textured pecan crust. We also enjoyed the Chop Salad, which offered a fresh, crisp contrast with great texture throughout. Dessert was a solid finish. The crème brûlée delivered a crisp top with smooth custard, while the apple crumb tart was warm, comforting, and ideal for sharing. For drinks, the Sunset Serenade was still enjoyable with fresh rosemary notes, though the sweet tea remained the most consistent option. One thing to note is the pacing.
