Welcome back to the channel, Noire Babes. For Episode 36 of Living Noire, we revisited South City Kitchen Buckhead — a Southern staple we’ve been to many times over the years and have even brought Mom to before. This visit reminded us why it’s still a Mom Must Come spot, while also highlighting a few things to keep in mind when planning your experience. Here’s what we tried during this visit: • Strawberry lemonade mocktail • Blackberry elixir mocktail • White cheddar hushpuppies • BBQ pork belly • Braised short rib (“pot roast”) • Sweet potato cornbread • Smoked gouda mac & cheese • Banana pudding cream pie • Bourbon pecan bread pudding • Coffee The white cheddar hushpuppies were a standout — crispy on the outside with a dense, soft center, paired with a sweet syrup and creamy goat cheese that worked surprisingly well together. The braised short rib continues to be one of our go-to dishes here. It’s tender, rich, and comforting, served with creamy potatoes and a light gravy that brings everything together. We also enjoyed the smoked gouda mac & cheese, which remains a reliable favorite — creamy, smoky, and well-balanced. For starters, the BBQ pork belly delivered on flavor with a nice smoky profile and tender bite, making it another dish we’d recommend. Dessert was a mix of experiences. The banana pudding cream pie was smooth and well-executed with fresh banana flavor, while the bourbon pecan bread pudding had great flavor but would have been even better with a more balanced temperature. One thing to note from this visit is the pacing. While the service was attentive and apologetic, the kitchen was backed up, which made for a longer dining experience than expected. ⸻ What to Know Before You Go Location: Buckhead, Atlanta Vibe: Classic Southern dining with a warm, welcoming atmosphere Best for: Comfort food, family dinners, and casual elevated dining Dress code: Smart casual — relaxed but put-together looks work well Best seating: Indoor dining for a cozy, full experience Standout dishes: Braised short rib, hushpuppies, smoked gouda mac & cheese Drink note: Mocktails are available but not a highlight Timing note: Service is attentive, but kitchen pacing may be slower than expected Parking: Garage parking available and validated Transportation: Driving or Lyft both work well Mom verdict: Bring Mom Immediately ⸻ Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe — and tell us which dish you’d order first. 📍 ATL-based.
