the Alienware 2725Q

I bought the Alienware AW2725Q with my own money because I wanted to see if a 27-inch 4K 240Hz QD-OLED could actually pull double-duty for creators and gamers. The big win for me is the 166 PPI clarity and the insane viewing angles—once calibrated, it matched my Apple Studio Display way better than I expected.

Pros

  • +166 PPI looks noticeably crisp for timelines and photo work
  • +240Hz 4K QD-OLED makes it a legit gaming + creator hybrid
  • +Excellent viewing angles with no noticeable color shifting
  • +No fan noise and I didn’t notice coil whine
  • +Dolby Vision support and eARC/HDMI with Atmos passthrough

Cons

  • -No KVM switch
  • -No DisplayPort 2.1 bandwidth
  • -USB-C is data-only (no video alt mode) and low power output
  • -HDR brightness/overall scene looked darker than my ASUS out of the box
  • -Mac sleep/wake could drop brightness and mess with scaling
