Welcome back to the studio! Today, we are taking a little break from our usual landscape paintings to tackle a beautiful, vibrant magnolia flower. When it comes to floral scenes like this, I use a slightly different approach than what I use for my landscapes. Instead of wetting the back of the paper and leaving it untaped, we will keep the paper dry, tape it down, and work on individual petals one by one. I'll also show you my step-by-step technique for using masking fluid to quickly create a dark, dramatic background that makes the flower pop. Whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your flower painting skills, grab your brushes, and let's paint together!
