In this video I’m breaking down the question everybody keeps asking: will AI replace electrical engineers? I get why people are nervous—software engineers, lawyers, everybody is watching AI get better and wondering if their job is next. But I’m coming at this from the real-world side of engineering. A lot of what we do touches hardware, circuits, and physical systems, and you can’t “ChatGPT” your way around real-world testing. I used examples like hardware products and even my old buck converter PCB to make the point: simulations help, but you still have to build it, test it, and catch the errors that computers can’t see. I also talk about the tools we already use—HFSS, Altium, AutoCAD, Ansys—and how AI isn’t really a replacement for EEs, it’s a multiplier. If you use AI to troubleshoot errors faster, improve code, or speed up iterations, you’re going to outperform the engineer who ignores it. Long-term, I see AI pushing robotics, quantum computing, and new hardware forward—and that actually increases the demand for electrical, hardware, and embedded engineers who can innovate, build, test, and repair. My takeaway: AI is here to stay, so don’t watch it grow—grow with it.
