“what's up everybody welcome back to the channel my name is Joe doy and I'm an electrical engineer and today's another opportunity to be better today than were yesterday and today's question comes from Timmy Griffin and he says was curious if anybody has been in my situation be because I could use some feedback I'm 24 and I've been a test technician for three years I'm thinking about going back to school full-time and getting my my bachelor's I already have an Associates in Laser Technology but it will only transfer a semester's worth of work does it even make sense to go back to go back for a little over 3 years and a half more years to get my bachelor's in electrical engineering I'd like to but it just seems like a lot more extra work than I wanted it to be well fun fact for you I graduated with my electrical engineering degree at 27 years old so don't be shy you're 245 26 27 you're going to be the same age as me whenever I graduated now you can ask yourself this right you're a test technician right now what's the rate of growth in this field for you so I don't know how much you make right now as a test technician let's say you make $65,000 a year today and you obviously want to be electrical engineer let's say 8 years 10 years from now where do you see your income at well you with 10 years of service time does a test ignition go from 60,000 to 150,000 100,000 or 90,000 what does that number like because an electrical engineer as a senior level a lot of the seniors are making way over $150,000 a year and if you spend three more years to get a degree right and mind you during this time it's not like you're not working because if you can't work you're not going to eat so you're doing part-time school you're doing part-time technician or you can do full-time if you can and if you finishing three years hopefully you can start off your first electrical engineering job you might be making the same or more as a test technician when you get your first job now 10 add adding 10 years from that when you're at a senior level you might be making $160,000 a year but if you counted that same 10 years in the test technician position would you be at the same spot so that's how I would look at it I don't know how much test technicians make but just look at the end goal 10 years from now right where do you want to be do you want to be what how much money do you want to make are you in a field that has enough room for growth if there's a lot of room for growth in that test ignition Side by all means you don't have to do it but if if the growth rate of you becoming an electrical engineer is significantly higher I personally would pursue that route by all means it's all it's totally up to you you're 24 you're young I completed I started off in a business degree switched over to electrical engineering degree graduated at 27 I do not regret it at all it was a lot harder switching over but the payoff that I'm experiencing today made every single it made all that pain and suffering so much more worth it and I'm able to help you guys today and hopefully motivate you guys to go after it because a piece of paper shouldn't stop you from economic wealth and growth so Timmy I hope this opinion from mine can give you some more insight in what I think you were the same age as me when I started you'll be graduating at the same age as me so hey do what you got to do with this one and I hope this video helps out other people who are in the same situation and yeah share the video like comment I hope it blessed you and I'll see you guys in the next video J is out”
