I tested this tiny $69 GARMESE 512GB SSD because it claims up to 2,000MB/s, but my real-world Blackmagic results on Mac Studio landed closer to ~770MB/s write and ~750MB/s read. The build is great and it’s insanely portable, so I see it more as a travel/convenience drive than a serious editing SSD.
Pros
- +Super small and lightweight—easy to keep in a bag
- +Solid real-world speeds around the 700–800MB/s range
- +Works on PS5 for storage and plays PS4 games with solid load times
Cons
- -Doesn’t hit the advertised 2,000MB/s in my real-world Mac tests
- -Most computers (including my Mac Studio) don’t support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2
- -PS5 games must be moved back to internal storage to play
- -Formatting differences make it better to dedicate to either PS5 or Mac/PC
