The Neighbor Kids Run My Big Model Trains

In this new model train video shot in September of 2024, you'll get to see the LGB Santa Fe Super Chief model train running on a huge temporary layout in my backyard. Also appearing in the video are my MTH BNSF freight train and a PIKO White Pass & Yukon Route steam train. By the way, this is not a train set, these are individual model trains I've collected. I invited some of the neighbor kids over to run the trains for me, so that I could concentrate on the issues involved with shooting the video. Using the new GoPro Hero13 Black camera, I was able to get some very nice 4K video of the trains running on the layout. In one segment of the video the GoPro is attached to the top of the train, just behind the locomotive. In another segment it is attached to the top of the very last car at the back of the train. In another segment it is attached to another locomotive that is running on the same tracks, just ahead of the Super Chief. In a few other shots, it was attached to the end of a selfie stick so that I could walk alongside the train and place the camera down low to simulate what you might see from a drone flying alongside the train. I did also shoot some video with my DJI Mini 3 Pro drone, although one of those shots ends unexpectedly when I crash the drone in to a tree! I am a licensed commercial drone pilot and I did have a qualified observer assisting me, but both of us missed the fact that the drone was heading towards that tree! Luckily, the drone suffered no damage from the crash and was able to fly again without even needing replacement propellers. I certainly didn't plan to fly in to that tree or want it to happen... but I think it made an interesting ending to the video!
