Fast Growing Trees For Privacy: The Amur Maple Tree

I love Amur Maple trees! This video shows you the Red Rhapsody Amur Maple trees that I bought less than a year and a half ago, and the amazing amount of growth in those trees over that time. This truly is one of the fastest growing trees you'll find, yet the Amur Maple tree never gets more than about 25 feet tall. So, if you're looking for a tree that grows quickly, gets quite wide, but never gets much taller than about 25 feet or so... you really need to get to know the Amur Maple. I also show you in the video how these trees turn red in the Fall, and drop a lot of seeds. The next Spring, you have little Amur Maple seedlings popping up all around your existing Amur Maple tree. You can either pull those seedlings out of the ground (like weeds) and throw them away, or you can transplant those seedlings somewhere else. I like to take a seedling and transplant it in to a pot, so I can better care for it for the first few months. Then I can transplant it in to my garden, or give it to a neighbor, or even sell it to make a little money on the side. Because these Amur Maple trees are so prolific... dropping so many seeds and creating so many seedlings... you'll often see (if you Google Amur Maple) a warning that they are an invasive species. Don't let that scare you off! Worst case scenario: you just treat the seedlings like weeds... pull them out of the ground and throw them away. But I suppose this wouldn't be a good tree to plant in a situation where you wouldn't be around to deal with all the seedlings... like if you had a very large property and you were planting on putting in lots of these Amur Maple trees. That might be a bit too much to deal with each year as the seedlings continually pop up.
