Once you begin using the Cookie in a Jar method of baking, you'll probably never go back to baking cookies the "old way". This is a time-saving technique that can be used with almost any cookie recipe. I hope you'll give this a try! The Director’s Favorite Sugar Cookies in a Jar COOKIE IN A JAR RECIPE: Add to a quart-sized jar or zip lock baggie: 2 cups all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon baking soda ¼ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional) 1/2 cup granulated sugar ½ cup packed brown sugar To the Cookie in A Jar, you’ll be adding: 3/4 cup softened butter 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract OPTIONAL: ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg INSTRUCTIONS: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicon mats. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, egg and vanilla. Add the Cookie In A Jar Mix. I recommend stirring up the jar mix so it blends easier with the egg, vanilla, and butter. This will take about 2-3 minutes. Be patient. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. I used a 1” cookie dough scoop. Place cookie dough scoops approximately 2” apart to allow for spreading. Bake for 8-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned but centers are still soft. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. This recipe made approximately 36, 2” cookies.
