Buckle toy

This buckle toy is one of those ride-or-die toddler toys for us, so it lives in my bag a lot of the time. I mentioned it because it’s a reliable distraction when we’re out, and it packs easily in the Cairo or any of the bigger Elkie bags.

Pros

  • +Keeps toddlers busy and engaged
  • +Easy to toss into a small packing cube or pocket

Cons

  • -One more item to keep track of when you’re packing light

What Jess Marks of Motherhood says

hey guys it's jess from marks and motherhood and today i am excited to show you guys the new elky and co cairo bag chances are that if you clicked on this video you have either pre-ordered this bag and you're anxiously waiting and want to see how it compares to either one of the bag styles that you have or this is your first time seeing the diaper bag brand and you're wanting to see which style bag would work best for you now i'm going to be doing a quick comparison of the features then i'll do a quick packing comparison so if you're wanting to skip to anything in particular i will link the time cards down below i am planning to do an individual packing video with a few different ways you can pack it later for the cairo so if you have anything specific for this bag that you're wanting to see since you've pre-ordered it just comment down below and let me know now without further ado i am going to share with you guys how these bags compare so to start they're all microfiber vegan leather which just means that basically they don't peel and scratch as easy as a lot of vegan leather bags do they're just a lot more durable which i can attest to because i have thrown these bags pretty much anywhere and i haven't noticed a single thing other than obviously they'll get spots on them but they all wipe right off now as far as ways to carry the cairo is the mini version of the arbor dean if you can tell here right next to each other so they can both be carried as a purse i was actually pleasantly surprised at the drop length on this purse i feel like a lot of the mini versions of bags just aren't as comfortable to carry under your shoulder but this is a really good drop length and then this bag can be carried the same way as well they both have d-rings on the side so they can be carried crossbody messenger style whatever you want to call it and in the back they both have d-rings so that you can carry them backpack style now the capri is mainly used as a backpack so here in the back you have the backpack straps that can be taken off and hooked to the d-rings unless you choose not to wear them then they can be folded away like i showed you and you can use the d-rings here on the side to carry the messenger style now the main difference as far as pockets on the outside is the cairo doesn't have a back pocket like the other two but the arbor deen has one bigger magnetic pocket the capri has one as well as a zipper one they all have these side pockets and they all have pockets in the front with a key leash so you see that on this one this one and this one here as well which has my keys on it because it's the bag i've been using now the cairo also comes in this new color that elky and co has come out with for these mini bags so it is a little different obviously than the gray colors here then the last thing as far as comparisons for these bags are the liners the capri has a water resistant liner and it doesn't come out the main thing for elky and co that they're known for is that their liners zip and come out of the bag and then you can take them out and either change the liner because they have other options on their site or you can throw it in the wash which is amazing that is actually what i was most excited about with this mini bag is that there was a purse with a removable liner because i will be carrying stuff for my kids till the dawn of time it feels like so this one i believe is a cotton liner but they are switching them all to water resistant liners and this one in the bag is the new water resistant lining so if you have a previous arbiting you are going to notice that the liners feel a little bit different but the nice thing about it too is you can always switch out the liners now i'm gonna jump right in like i said and show you guys what i have packed inside the cairo then throw it into each one of these bags and you can see how much more you can fit in them and if this one is big enough for you to use so let's take a look okay so first we're gonna look inside of the cairo bag now when i first got the cairo bag and you can kind of see it here there was a little bit of an indent but in less than a week it was all the way across this bag and now it's gone and you can't even tell so i feel like even though this is stiffer microfiber vegan leather it still has plenty of give to smooth out your bags and even slouch a little bit which you'll see in my other bags as you carry and wear it more now in the pockets here on this side i have a welly kit with band-aids because whether kids need them or not you need to have the option and i have some spray hand sanitizer for them to use or maybe use after i change a diaper i have my keys on the key leash and i think i have fingernail clippers and chapstick then on this side i have a custom med kit that just has a disposable bib and a way to convert any cup to a sippy cup or a straw cup for my 18 month old now on the inside of the bag i always like to show that these straps can fit in the bag if you're wanting to carry them with you so that you can wear messenger style or backpack style but most the time i'm pretty comfortable just carrying out as a purse so i just leave this at home so as far as the side pockets go for the bottles i don't have anything my kids tend to carry these little munchkin snack cups so i don't have to carry one for them in the bag you can fit a smaller sippy cup in here or a bottle if you are bottle feeding and you're not wanting to pack a lot but i'm not showing any bottles in the bag here now in the main pocket here i have a large jujube set piece it's disney so it makes me happy and i have a disposable change pad about a 40 pack thing of wipes and a diaper because my 18 month old doesn't normally need it and half the time i have everything to restock this in my van so i have that right there in the center now a few people really quick we're asking how a ipad mini and the kids tablet fit in here so obviously with the diapering stuff like putting my whole diapering pouch i could do it on top and it would zip just fine and totally work but if you don't have any kids and diapers this works really well carrying a tablet for your toddler and your own ipad mini which i have lost i just have the outside cover of the otterbox thing for ours just to show a size comparison and then a super bulky case on their tablet but it does fit in the main pocket of the purse for those asking then i have this small itsy bitsy packing case which just has a few little toys for both my three-year-old and 18 month old and then i have her favorite farm book and that all fit nicely right in the center and then since i have toddlers these two host my snacks this has two in it so they can each have one and then i have a thing of applesauce for each of them there is a back zipper pocket here and i keep all the fun time of month stuff here now with these pockets which are the same on this side i have my limia wallet here which comes out a lot easier when there's weight in the center but this wallet here and it fits right there and then my toddler has been really into coloring lately so i have these stickers for both my three-year-old and one-year-old and then i have just one pencil she's happy with just one colored pencil and coloring on this tiny notebook that i can fit into that pocket there and that is it i cannot tell you guys how exciting it is to carry pretty much nothing inside of my bag anymore i don't need a big old bag with toddlers now like i said earlier this unzips all the way to come out so you can pull it out and throw it in the wash and then which you'll see here soon in the arbor dean there are these two side clips that are going to hopefully host a mini mob bag in here soon but for now you can clip other things onto them like i've clipped her binky onto this so that i can quickly grab it i put my keys on the inside if i don't want my toddler to take them you'll find use for them is what i'm saying so that is all for the cairo bag it is small but mighty and it has become my favorite bag lately because like i said i'm basking and having to pack less alright so the capri is obviously going to have a little bit more room it is a bigger bag i have a few extra things in here to show that this sticker book here my kids love these this buckle toy they also love and one of their fire hd 8 tablets i want to say the kids amazon one with a super bulk case is here in the middle and then because of the size and the back pocket i can put that diaper changing clutch back here in the back instead of inside on the main pocket so it's a lot easier to grab and i also have my wallet here in the side a zipper pocket so it's easy to grab then the cairo i can fit this bag in it and i'll show you guys that really quick right now and it fits in here but it's not as easy to zip it shut and it's just not really made to be a bottle pocket and most of the time i am carrying at least 40 ounces with me that i don't even like to put in my purse because it gets heavy and i just keep it in the car but that does fit here on the side then in the front pocket since i also have this top zipper pocket that's where i keep the fingernail and the chapstick and i could also put i mean like everything in here the first aid kit the hand sanitizer it's a pretty deep pocket but instead i have the first aid kit the hand sanitizer down here the key is attached on the key leash and the same restaurant kit with the straw and the bib back there then you have all the pockets and i mean all the pockets if you haven't seen the capri before there are so many pockets which i love if you're carrying it for multiple kiddos so here in the front part of the bag's pockets i just have that same little book and the same coloring stuff here for them and then i could even fit another couple of notebooks for my other kids in here i've also done play packs in here as well but i don't have anything in there right now then there's the snacks here in this pocket and i could fit the same amount in this pocket they're just a really good size and this is actually the bag that i will take when i have my four kids most of the time just because it fits a ton of stuff but i have those same snacks inside of here and then i have this zipper pocket back here that houses the time of month and nothing in this side bottle pocket and just the same little toy in this side bottle pocket so sometimes i'll do the same kind of size like jujube small set piece and put some magnets in this side bottle pocket for my older there is quite a bit more room in the capri but nowadays i just really love to carry less but when i do have all four of my kids since two of them are in school right now this tends to be the bag that i grabbed for now lastly is the arbor deen so this is my favorite bag with the newborn stage because i like to carry all the things but also because of the bomb bag inside the big reason that i love the mom bag with a newborn is there was just a few times that i could escape without having a baby and all the kids and i could just clip out this bag grab the strap and take it out and i didn't have to worry about forgetting to put things back into my bag like my wallet and keys or whatever it was and then it goes right back to being a diaper bag so that is like i said one of my favorite features about this bag is just that the mom bag can come out like i said i would pull it out grab the strap i could go somewhere on my own have my wallet phone keys everything inside of here if i was taking just my toddler at the time i might have thrown in some wipes and a diaper but then i didn't have to worry about forgetting all that stuff when i had to go back to a bigger bag it was all just right there no matter what this bag can hold a lot more it's their bigger size tote so i would often have a ring sling for my little babe my toddler's favorite buckle toy a sticker book for my older kids as well as some things to draw with for my older kids and then either bottles for my newborn babe and then snacks for my other kids then the thing that i really loved about the size of this bag is that this zipper pocket here could hold whatever i was trying to hide from my toddler so if i needed to pull out his tablet i could but when i opened my bag he wouldn't see it and then just automatically asked for it so this i mean like you guys saw it fit in there it's a super generous sized pocket and it's just where i would hide anything i didn't want them to get to so that is the inside of that bag on the outside it can hold a ton of different size bottles which i would sometimes carry when i was out and about usually one of my older kids would hold one but if my toddler decided he was done carrying his cup this fit really well in there as well which i really loved with him then here in the front i always like to have the first aid kit accessible as well as hand sanitizer just so i can quickly grab it and then i would have the diapering stuff here in the back now that is all for the packing comparisons i have put other packing videos up for these two bags if you guys want to see other things packed inside i will link them down below like i said i'm planning to do another one for the cairo bag so if there's anything you want to see inside just comment down below and if you're ordering any of these styles i do have a discount code for you guys right here that you can use but i'll also link it down in the comments so you can copy paste and yeah
