I decided to do something I’ve never really done as a remote software developer: I moved back in with my parents for a few weeks and worked from my actual childhood home. The whole vibe of this video is full circle. Growing up, I used to love going to work with my dad—he’s an I.T. technician—because I got to help set up computers, configure laptops, and just feel like the coolest person on Earth. So this time, I went back to his office and worked from there for the day, and I’m not gonna lie… I felt all gooey inside. It hit different being in the same place that originally got me excited about technology. After running into some Wi‑Fi issues, I came back to the house to take meetings (I can’t do weird angles on calls, so I set up a quick little workspace). I also talked about work stuff like workshop season and Dreamforce coming up, and then we balanced it out with family time—pickleball rematch with my brother, ice cream, all that. The biggest takeaway is how much flexibility remote work has given me. Between the salary bump and being remote, I can travel, be around family, and still get work done—and that’s been a huge blessing for me.
