“hello everyone and welcome back hope you enjoyed the last two very practical videos on setting up your easel ready for painting in the studio or plan a the first one was about making these These are the boards that connect the tripod to the painting boards um sort of adapter really and we made these first using our practical skills woodworking skills which I don't really do very often and they are wonderful things um so useful and so it just makes things really easy um the next thing we made in the next video was was this this this painting board it's quite a big one this one's 20x 16 and it's a size I don't have so I'm very pleased to have it and I'll just show you the how it works so you got the board pretend that's attached to the tripod and you just clip them together and there you are the board is attached to the tripod and that is such a useful thing um really practical and simple and strong as well the the the boards hand can handle very strong winds so if if if it's a strong wind you'll be okay the tripod will be flying off first more than those boards so today what we're going to be making are the tables which go which which clip onto the tripod and these are really useful um they they are so practical and they save so much bother um there's two sizes that I make um there's the big one and this is for painting large pictures really so a full Imperial sheet which is 30X 22 in at 20 in x 24 the larger paintings really and this is for small paintings sort of around about the 20 part 20 by 14 in and smaller the reason I have two is that if if I use this one for a big painting the big painting would be so big that it'll be hanging down over it like that so you couldn't actually see it so we we need the bigger one uh to um show it to you so we need the bigger one so that it actually still protrudes underneath so I can put my water and paint brushes and pallet sometimes on it as well so we'll be making one of these today so we're going to have a go at making this one and I hope you can follow along and make one with me as well here's the table that I'm going to make and the supplies needed to make it firstly the tripod that we're going to use as our easel a knife velcro tape measure this is 200 g paper so mount board a ruler and a cutting board this is how the table fits onto the tripod and here's the shape I need to cut I plac the table at the top of the tripod but you can decide where you want to position it you might prefer it slightly lower it would be a good idea to set up your tripod to find your perfect place the first thing I do is to measure the width of the tripod I measure mine right at the top with the legs open this is 11”
