I’m Going to Turn This Guitar Into Something Special

Well over the next couple of months, that’s exactly what we are going to find out. In each episode of this guitar build challenge I am going to change, mod and quite frankly butcher each individual part of this Harley Benton and hopefully make something really special. All the way from the pickups, hardware and even the finish. But I had to set myself a budget, because otherwise this whole thing could get out of hand quite quickly. So I have £500 to spend including the guitar! Maybe you’re a beginner guitarist advancing to an intermediate level and want to see how you can upgrade your first guitar or maybe you’ve got a few hundred quid burning a hole in your pocket and want a project. I’m going to take you along for the whole journey, the ups and downs, the mistakes and lessons learned. All completely DIY! Maybe with a little help from a few friends along the way. Which is worth mentioning actually, I am NOT a professional at any of this. In actual fact I’m pretty clueless. I will be making things up as I go along and doing what makes sense in the moment. There will be times that you will be screaming at your screen when I do something clearly wrong, but that’s kind of the whole fun of it right? In this first episode we will be taking a look at the guitar I’ve chosen for the challenge, getting some impressions of the thing completely stock, highlighting some potential problem areas and things I want to change, get some tones and finally strip this thing down to its core parts to delve a little deeper.
