The American Professional Classic Stratocaster is a solid, refined workhorse and a pretty decent deal for an American-made Fender in today’s market. That said, in my hands it didn’t pull far enough ahead of the Player II to justify the price jump, and the Coastline ’57 pickups were good but didn’t wow me.

- -Didn’t feel proportionally better than the Player II for the extra cost
