Palm Springs wasn’t just a getaway — it was Hollywood’s desert playground. In this episode, we cruise through the neighborhoods where legends like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, and others spent their downtime — riding past mid-century homes that feel surprisingly normal by today’s celebrity standards. Riding with Harry from Tri-A-Bike, we talk about: • How celebrity lifestyles used to be far more accessible • Why Palm Springs became a Hollywood retreat • Mid-century modern architecture and desert design • The contrast between old-school fame and modern celebrity culture • Why riding a bike is the best way to experience these neighborhoods This isn’t a bus tour — it’s a slow cruise through history, stories, and a very different era of fame 🗺️ Follow the journey: Instagram: / jayoelife Facebook: / JaYoeLife 🎁 Support the channel: Patreon: / JaYoe 🚴 Ride by AZUB: https://azub.eu @azubrecumbent 00:00 Celebrity map & setting the idea 00:47 Old Hollywood vs modern celebrity culture 02:28 First Elvis house (and the wrong one) 03:55 Marilyn Monroe’s Palm Springs connection 05:17 Mid-century neighborhoods explained 06:31 Rental bike quality moment 07:17 Walt Kirchner & Sinatra area 08:29 Favorite Sinatra songs (comment bait) 09:12 Lunch stop & margarita honesty 11:24 Local art yard & creative persistence 12:26 WWII aviation history in Palm Springs 13:39 Riding an electric trike (battery stats) 15:27 Wave pool & bucket-list talk 15:48 Ride stats & drone wrap-up 17:42 Why Tri-A-Bike rentals are different #TravelByBike #SlowTravel #CyclingLife #HumanPowered #adventuretravel #PalmSprings #HollywoodHistory #CelebrityHomes #MidCenturyModern #ElvisPresley #FrankSinatra #MarilynMonroe #DesertCulture #CyclingLife #BikeTravel #RecumbentTrike #TriABike #PalmSpringsArchitecture #TravelVlog #CyclingVlog #CaliforniaHistory #OldHollywood #SlowTravel #JaYoeNation #AddFuelToLife

About This Video

Harry from Tri-A-Bike rolled up with a celebrity homes map, so we did the only logical thing in 118-degree Palm Springs heat: hop on the bikes and go slow-cruise through Old Hollywood history. We pedaled neighborhood streets where Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, and a bunch of other legends had desert hideaways—mid-century modern homes that honestly feel surprisingly “normal” compared to today’s celebrity fortresses. That was one of the big takeaways for me: back then, fame looked more like high-end suburban America, and now it’s gated communities, security up the wazoo, and no chance you’re riding past anybody’s front yard. Along the way we talked architecture, desert design, and why Palm Springs became a Hollywood retreat in the first place. We even managed to find the “wrong” Elvis house first—because of course we did. We stopped for lunch (yes, I had a fully charged margarita and yes, I paid for it a little), checked out a wild yard-art spot built from welded “garbage,” and dipped into some WWII aviation history with old tie-downs and stories of planes staging through the valley. To finish it off, I put 74 km on the day and got some time on an electrified AZUB Ti-Fly X rental with a Bosch CX setup and dual batteries—basically a monster. I tried not to lean on the motor, but it was nice to have a little extra shove when needed. This isn’t a bus tour—it’s the best kind of history lesson: the kind you can pedal through.
