The southeasternmost part of the high-temperature area then connects to the Hveragerði volcano. The volcano system in Hengli is the youngest and most active. From the end of the ice age, that is the last 11,000, years are known three volcanic eruptions in the Hengil system. The last eruption there was about 2,000 years ago. Then around 5,800 years ago. Of the total of 60 species identified only 25 had a close relative from the same species according to Genbank. The remaining 35 species were only distantly related to their closest relative and could only be classified to genera, families, orders or classes.
