In “DRAKO TERROR” I go full improvisation, dawless, with my Elektron Monomachine SFX60 driving the core industrial electro energy while I poke at the Sonicware Liven Texture Lab on the side. Everything is mixed in stereo through the Bastl Instruments Bestie, and the whole point here is raw performance: I hit record and I react in real time, no safety net, no arranging after the fact. And yeah—this is probably the only Texture Lab jam you’ll see from me. It’s not mine; I just wanted to test it, and like the Ambient 0 and the Evoke, it’s not for me. The possibilities are cool on paper, but I can’t stand the workflow and the overall feel of their gear. I’m using a factory sample inside the Liven and I drown it in that muddy shimmer reverb—Sonicware style—so it turns into a completely muddy, unusable wash next to the Elektron… which is honestly funny in context, because the Monomachine stays sharp and mean while the Texture Lab melts into fog. Tomorrow it goes back to the training center. Goodbye Sonicware, adios.
