Queen Mary 2 Winter Crossing Day 5 takes us deeper across the North Atlantic — and today we found one of the most interesting spots on board QM2: the bridge viewing area where guests can look inside. As we continue our 8-day Queen Mary 2 transatlantic crossing from New York to Southampton, the North Atlantic is calmer than it was earlier in the voyage, but it is still cold, cloudy, and very much a winter crossing. We start the day from our sheltered balcony, check the weather, and settle into another sea day onboard Cunard’s legendary ocean liner. This episode includes another look at room service breakfast on Queen Mary 2, with the American breakfast, croissants, fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea, juice, and the little daily routines that start to become part of life at sea. But the real surprise of the day comes later when we spot an incredible double rainbow in the middle of the North Atlantic — one of the brightest and fullest rainbows we’ve ever seen from a ship. Then we head toward the Queen Mary 2 bridge viewing area, a unique onboard feature where passengers can look into the bridge during certain times. Photos and videos are not allowed inside, so we take you as far as we can and share the experience of finding this quiet, fascinating part of QM2.
