In this video I want to share with you my five-year-old Anthurium houseplant, it's a hardy indoor plant from the tropics of South America, in its native habitat it is Epiphytic so grows in trees and gets moisture and nutrients from the air around it. Anthurium is also known by other names such as Tail Flower, Flamingo Lily or Flamingo Flower, these are all nicknames of the Anthurium plant. It's relatively easy to look after, as long as you keep it away from harsh direct sunlight it will tolerate a wide range of environment from shade to bright rooms, it will tolerate drying out from time to time and only really dislike being left in wet soil which is the same for many houseplants. Anthurium will bloom prolifically through the year without the need for much feeding, maybe once or twice in the active growing season of Spring and Summer. What you would expect are the flowers are in fact just modified leaves and the flowers are so tiny that can hardly be seen growing from the spike at the centre. If you keep an Anthurium at home let me know in the comments what you think of it.
