I've had a lot of success finding great products to recommend, but unfortunately, this isn't one of them. I'm here to strongly urge you not to buy the Schlage Z-Wave lock, model number be469. My experience with this lock has been a huge bummer, especially since every other Schlage product I've used has been incredibly durable and reliable. I don't know what went wrong with this Z-Wave version, but it's been nothing but trouble from the start. Right out of the box, the lock was intermittent. I discovered a poorly assembled battery connection, which I had to take apart and solder myself just to get a working lock on my door. Then came the Z-Wave issues. It would pair with my Hubitat hub for a short time—maybe an hour, a day, or a week—before disconnecting. I found myself constantly resetting it, and for the past few months, the smart features haven't worked at all. The physical keypad works, but the whole point was to integrate it into my smart home. Schlage's customer service was good enough to send a replacement, but I'm hesitant to even install it. I'm making this video because I don't want anyone else to go through the same frustrating experience. It's a shame because I've always trusted the Schlage brand, but this product feels like it was rushed to market without proper testing.
