I recently embarked on a project to improve the quality of my drinking water by upgrading my reverse osmosis (RO) system. The goal was to increase the alkalinity and overall quality of the water. I started by testing the pH of my existing RO water, which was around six. After installing a new three-stage filter, the pH significantly increased to about eight, indicating a much more alkaline and less acidic water. The new filter also added about 44 parts per million (PPM) of minerals to the water, which aligns with the manufacturer's claims. The installation involved carefully integrating the new filter stages into my existing RO system. I also decided to bypass the new filter for the water going to my aquarium downstairs, ensuring that my fish receive the original RO water. After connecting everything and flushing the system, it was time for the taste test. While the difference was subtle, the new water had a slightly smoother taste, reminiscent of fresh mountain spring water. Although the taste improvement was minimal, the added minerals like calcium and magnesium, along with the higher pH, offer potential health advantages that make this upgrade worthwhile. This project has been a great success, and I'm happy with the addition to my home. The filter is clearly working as intended, and while I'm not a health expert, I'm told these changes are beneficial. I'm looking forward to experiencing the long-term benefits of this enhanced drinking water.
