In this tutorial I walk you through how I sync Zotero to Notion using the Notero plug-in, so your academic references can live inside the same workspace as your PhD notes, reading plans, and writing projects. I first share a bit of context on what I’m actually pulling across from Zotero and why—because for me the whole point is reducing friction: fewer tabs, fewer duplicated fields, and a cleaner “single source of truth” for my research workflow. Then I go step-by-step through the setup: creating (or using) the right Notion database, generating a Notion internal integration token via Notion’s “My Integrations” page, connecting that integration to the specific database, finding your database ID, and installing Notero. Once it’s installed, I show where the Notero Preferences live in Zotero and what you need to paste in (your integration token key + database ID) to get the sync working. I also flag a few limitations at the end, because this isn’t magic—it’s a genuinely awesome workflow upgrade, but you still want to understand what it can and can’t do before you build your whole system around it.
