In this PhD week-in-my-life in NYC, I’m taking you through how I plan my week when my brain is doing that classic PhD thing of wanting structure and chaos at the same time. I start with a little health update, then I sit down for Monday planning and show you the genuinely life-changing bit: a TWO-WAY Google Calendar + Notion sync, so I can time block in a way that actually sticks (and doesn’t turn into me manually copying events back and forth like it’s 2014). As the week goes on, you’ll see the reality of it all: a Tuesday panic moment, a cosy diner vibe, and a quick abstract-writing exercise to get unstuck. Midweek I’m writing and also testing the newer Zotero for iPad workflow for literature review organisation—because if I can make reading + capturing notes feel frictionless, I’m so much more likely to keep going. We end with the Friday supervisor meeting, plus little life bits in between (snail mail, missing my mama), because honestly the planning systems only work when they’re built around real life, not some imaginary perfect academic version of me.
