We came to the Philippines for fishing… but what we found changed the way we see paradise. In this episode, our journey through Coron, Palawan continues as we spend time with Nori and her family, a local boat tour family who took us fishing, island hopping, and deep into the beautiful waters of the Philippines. We learned how they fish with handmade handlines, taught them how to use a modern fishing rod, caught fish together, explored breathtaking islands, and shared an unforgettable lunch cooked right on the boat. But after the fishing trip, Nori trusted us enough to show us the reality behind the beautiful beaches, boat tours, resorts, and postcard views. She brought us into the coastal community where she lives, a place built over the water with narrow wooden walkways, families living close together, and children growing up in conditions most tourists never see. This video is not meant to shame the Philippines. It is the opposite. We love this country, the people, the culture, the food, the fishing, and the kindness we experienced everywhere we went. But travel should also open your eyes. Behind many beautiful tourist destinations are hardworking local families doing everything they can to survive, provide, and build a better future. Nori told us that one of the biggest needs in her community is repairing a dangerous broken bridge that children use every day. She also said bags of rice would make a huge difference for families in the area. If you feel moved to help, we are collecting donations and sending them directly to Nori and her community.
