My first ever international birding trip takes me to the Dominican Republic featuring some incredible endemic birds! By the way, here is the company and exact tour I did while in the Dominican Republic. I would highly recommend the Manny, he knows his stuff!. https://exploraecotour.com/ecotourism/birding-tours-dominican-republic/birding-tours-punta-cana/national-park-of-the-east-birdwatching/ The Dominican Republic makes up part of the island of Hispaniola, which is home to 33 endemic bird species found nowhere else in the world. It’s also got a surprisingly wide range of habitats packed into a relatively small area, which makes it a really interesting place to go birding. This adventure was part of a family spring break trip to Punta Cana, so while time was limited, the birding absolutely delivered. Although I didn’t make it to every hotspot (still dreaming of seeing the critically endangered Ridgway’s Hawk), I was blown away by the species we did find. Even with limited time, though, the birding was incredible. Getting to see some of these species in person was something I don’t take for granted—there’s a good chance I may never see some of them again. Overall, just a really memorable trip with some amazing birds and a reminder of how unique Hispaniola is from a birding perspective. eBird Trip Report: https://ebird.org/tripreport/491927 📷 Checkout the Gear I Use: - https://www.hawkinthelens.com/my-gear 🔗 Check out my other pages!
