“6 OR 9” is my short film built around a simple lunch-break conversation that slowly turns into a mind game about perspective. Two colleagues finally get a power cut after days of working like “गधों की तरह” on a project, and that tiny break becomes the perfect setup to talk about how we read the same situation in completely different ways. The banter starts casual—work pressure, double shift, and a film reference to “आंखों देखी”—but it quickly pivots into the core idea: I don’t want to believe anything until I see it with my own eyes. In the film, I use everyday examples to show how perception flips: a cigarette can look like fun, death, smoke, or just a cigarette; a garden can remind you of Dev and his girlfriend instead of the trees; and a watchman can feel “खराब” in the morning but “अच्छा” at lunch—same person, different angle. The title lands as a visual punchline: depending on how you rotate it, 6 becomes 9, and even starts looking like something else. The takeaway is simple and very indie-film to me: truth isn’t always changing—our viewpoint is.
