I start with the cheapest fish and chips I could find, heading to Johnny’s Fish Bar in Bermondsey, where they offer fish and chips for just £6 during their weekday lunch deal. At the end, I even leave £60 to cover meals for the first people who turn up and say I sent them. Next, I visit Rock & Sole Plaice in Covent Garden, one of my personal favourites and also the oldest fish and chip shop in London, to see how a classic spot compares. Finally, I try the most expensive fish and chips, heading to Corenucopia by Clare Smyth in Chelsea, the luxury bistro from the three-Michelin-star chef where their fish and chips comes in at £54.
